Set Yourself Up For Success.
I love a fresh start and a new month feels like a great opportunity for one. Last month I was adjusting to a whole new reality. To give you an idea of what I mean, I lost someone extremely close to me in July and I have now been starting a new chapter in my life. This has enabled and forced me towards this fresh beginning.
Even when things are going smoothly, I feel like it's important to check in with yourself regularly.
The beginning of the month is a perfect time to evaluate on how things have panned out and grab a hold on what's coming up next.
1. Count Your Blessings.
I personally have found a routine where I go through my gratitude list every day, but also understand that that isn't for everyone. So I suggest starting each month going down the list of things you are thankful for (in your mind or writing them down). Even if it's the simplest things like "I am grateful for my senses" or "I am blessed to have had a great laugh with a friend the other day".
2. Reflect, Review & Redirect your story.
Think back on the highs and lows of the previous month. What are the things that went well? What brought you joy? What were some of the obstacles? Did you achieve any of your goals? Now, are you headed in the direction you want to? I know, sometimes we can feel stuck, but having a vision of whatever it is you want, can give you clarity to actually achieving it. Here is the (LINK) to my previous post to give you some tips on how to move towards your goals.
3. Declutter.
Declutter. Do whatever this means to you. Clear out your wardrobe, dejunk your inbox, empty out the fridge or detach from people who drain you. For you to thrive in full potential be aware of the surrounding chaos that can kill your jam. Give yourself the best chance and refresh your environment. Take time at the beginning of each month to make your space polished so that you have a soothing environment to crush your goals in.
4. Schedule some ME (and OUR) time.
Often when we go about our days and lives, we can sometimes forget our needs and wants. When you set a time (in your calendar) and prioritize it like you would an important client, the results of your efforts will be profound. Find out what ‘self care‘ means to you and indulge in it. Do something for yourself (and your partner).
5. Focus on your priorities
Planning ahead helps you set aside time for your most important tasks (even the hard and necessary nasty ones). This may seem like a simple productivity hack, but it might be the most challenging one to actually do. We have become so accustomed to being distracted, that we hardly know what it feels like to spend a significant amount of time on focusing. Instead, we try to multitask by jumping from one thing to the next. (Here's a great read on multitasking - LINK). So instead of trying to tackle it all, know what needs to be done and focus on one thing at a time.
What are your must-do things you have each month? I would love to hear them in the comments or on Instagram.
